Selecting your AI companion

When you land on our select screen, you'll be greeted by an array of AI Personalities, neatly organized into categories for easy navigation. Maybe today you're in the mood for an adventure, or perhaps you're seeking some career advice? Each AI Personality comes with a brief description and some "scenario info" to set the stage for your upcoming interaction.

Pro tip: Click on "Scenario Info" before starting a chat to understand the character's background and capabilities better!

Starting the conversation

Click "Start Chatting," and the magic begins. Your chosen AI Personality will kick things off with an introductory message, setting the tone for your dialogue or roleplay. From there, the conversation is a two-way street! You're not limited to simple back-and-forths; you can describe actions, environments, or even how you perceive the AI character to be feeling. This is your stage, and the script is unwritten.

Every chat is powered by DeepSeek v4 Pro, a reasoning model that thinks before it writes — so you can expect thoughtful, nuanced responses that truly bring characters to life.

Keeping the conversation flowing

As the conversation evolves, our AI keeps the context in mind, drawing from recent exchanges and a summary of the overall dialogue to keep things coherent. While it may not remember every tiny detail from the beginning of your chat, it'll have a good grasp of the ongoing theme.

And the best part? There's no endpoint. Keep the conversation going as long as you'd like. Whether you're co-writing an epic adventure or discussing the finer points of 17th-century art, your AI companion is here for the long haul.

Good to know: Chatting is unlimited and free — there's no daily message limit, with or without an account. Prefer Claude? Add your own Anthropic API key in your profile settings to run your chats on Claude Sonnet 5.

How many messages can I send for free?

As many as you like! There's no daily message limit — chatting with any of our AI personalities is unlimited and free, whether or not you have an account.

Which AI model powers the characters?

By default, every chat runs on DeepSeek v4 Pro — a reasoning model that works through its answer before replying, which makes for richer characters and more coherent stories. It's free and unlimited for everyone.

If you'd rather chat with Claude Sonnet 5, you can: add your own Anthropic API key in your profile settings and all your chats will switch over to it automatically.

How do I use Claude Sonnet 5 with my own API key?

Grab an API key from the Anthropic Console, then paste it into the "Anthropic API Key" field on your profile page. From that moment on, your chats and summaries run on Claude Sonnet 5 and are billed to your own Anthropic account — usually just a few cents per conversation.

You can remove the key at any time to go back to DeepSeek. A handful of characters are pinned to a specific model by their creator and will keep using that one either way.

How long do my conversations last?

Without signing in, your conversations are stored locally for a limited time. But here's the thing - if you sign in with your Google account, all your chats are saved permanently! You can come back weeks later and pick up right where you left off. Pretty neat, right?

Can I edit my AI characters after creating them?

Yes! You can modify your created characters anytime. Just find them in your list of characters and click the edit button to make changes to their personality, backstory, or appearance.

What's the difference between character types?

Different character types are optimized for various interaction styles:

  • Expert characters share knowledge about specific topics
  • Story characters engage in roleplaying and narrative adventures
  • Supportive characters provide emotional guidance and encouragement
